Okay, he might have, had we been around during his heyday. But no, it was Laurel (a former guest) from Calgary who asked to stay for two weeks while she attended the horse show at Thunderbird Equestrian Center Does this mean we are back in the B&B business? I think so.

What?? Our kids shrieked. Calm down, girl, this will be different. Long term business/pleasure traveler/ writer/ artist/ or anyone just wanting a quiet, casually elegant place to recharge batteries. Minimum stay, 2 days.

I never have got into the morning thing so healthy breakfast fixings are supplied in the one bedroom suite on the top floor of our new home.

With a private entrance, access to the garden and gazebo by the pond we know how to respect our guests’ quiet time.

He arrived by train, (I can hear the low rumble in the distance) or was it by air (the 1945 vintage planes are still flying overhead from the Langley Flight Museum)

He made his way up the drive to the private side entrance, looking tired from the journey, we showed him his suite and quietly walked away

He dropped his well-worn leather suitcase and made himself a cup of tea…or maybe he just took out a flask of whiskey from his pocket, whatever…

He flopped into the leather chair, rested his weary feet on the ottoman, reached for his journal…

Later he filled the tub to the brim, added heaps of lavender bath milk, lay back and drifted….

Feeling heavy with sleep, he dried himself with warm towels then dropped, dead-like into a soft, warm, clean bed….
