We have had a long time vision of having land that would be
in nature among the flowers & plants and away from the hustle and bustle of
cars, honking horns, phones and concrete jungles.
A retreat we could share with people, where they could take in the beauty where a mere inhalation would put them at ease. It has been a dream of mine as I developed large spas in the resort world among corporate types to have my own little retreat in nature.
And it has been a goal for David who has worked to make sick people well to have a place that promotes wellness in a simple way. We wondered what would happen to people if they had a place to relax, a sanctuary in which to get away.
When we found Tuscan Farm Gardens we thought, what an amazing gateway to our vision.
I have always loved to blend plant extracts and have for many years formulated and developed products and treatments for the spas – it was always my favourite thing to do. Lavender has always had a special place in my heart & I have always loved working with pure essential lavender oil.
David being the in the “western” medical field has kept his naturopathic & aromatherapy inclinations ‘underground’ so his peers did not look at him sideways. But with all the information on natural medicine and proven research, he has come out to realize that the time is right to incorporate all types of wellness to enhance individual’s lives.
So we have embarked on a whole new journey
– just shy of four months of the purchase of our 10 acres farmland in historic Mt.
Lehman Abbotsford. Our romantic dream has become very real, the beautiful trees
need major trimming, the flowers beds need some major weeding and pruning, the
grass needs some TLC , the ponds
major descummming; and the 4,000 little baby lavender plants need planting. I was raised on a farm... how hard could it be?? I thought I had this as I have
howed my share of gardens and dug up potatoes and cut lots of grass. I was a
kid & had no idea how hard my parents worked!
We are getting a real taste of it now but it is all fueled by our passion to have a beautiful sanctuary, rows of lavender & a quality product.
David & I met when I was traveling through India for 3 months, doing my own Eat, Pray, Love. We met at an ashram and I was helping the ashram develop their Ayurvedic spa side for the “westerners”. David always had a passion for healing in a more natural way & loved to be outside and not surrounded by white walls. The hospital & clinics he worked in could be very draining. Very shortly after we met we began collaborating on alternative healing, wellness, natural products that could relax the senses and aid in discomfort.
Our lives have been a fast journey from there. Now, when we are making products, it is a very therapeutic time for us, we get to inhale all the wonderful oils as we blend, it is quiet relaxing and we put a lot of love into what we are making.
We know there is a big following for this handmade, pure products and our goal
is to enhance the line and not disappoint the loyal Tuscan Farm customers.
We just finished renovation on the Apothecary shop & tea house. We got the thumbs up from the original owners Heather & Arleigh (who had a hand at re-setting the Tuscan Farm sign just outside our new gate in Mount Lehman) and we hope to soon fill this space with happy smiling faces & wonderful products.
The gardens beside the shop are being planted with care and a lovely pond will soon be there for all to enjoy. We have lots of work ahead of us and Heather keeps reminding us “Rome (Tuscany?) was not was not built in a Day”.
We hope you will come see the new Tuscan Farm Gardens; it will be a work in progress for years to come as we develop and plant more each year.
Come see the vision unfold, enjoy some great products, enjoy a cup of tea, a walk in the gardens and maybe grow a little with us along the way...
